Thank you for considering Lightroom as the destination for your next educational visit. This guide contains information to help you plan and organise, and details for what to expect on the day of your visit.

How much are tickets to Lightroom?

We offer a fixed Education Rate of £10 per ticket which is available to groups of 10+. With every 10 tickets purchased, the 11th ticket is free. 

Education group bookings are available Monday – Friday before 4pm.

How can I make a group booking?

Book your trip directly with us to secure the best availability at the best price. Complete our group booking form, or email us directly schools@lightroom.uk.

What payment method should I expect?

Your school will be invoiced for your tickets. You will then be able to pay via BACs/bank transfer or over the phone with our team on 0300 303 4216. Please note, reservations will be held for 2 weeks and your booking is only confirmed once this invoice has been paid.

What is your reservation policy?

We recommend you book as much in advance as possible to secure your preferred date and time. You are welcome to make changes or cancel your booking without fees during your reservation period. 

We have a standard reservation period of 2 weeks from the date of booking, which can be extended depending on the date of the show (if the performance that has been booked is within 2 weeks we will not be able to extend the reservation)

Do you offer free tickets for accompanying teachers and chaperones?

With every 10 Education Rate tickets purchased, the 11th ticket is free in consideration of group chaperones and supervisors.

Do your Education Rates include home educator groups?

We offer the same rates as the school’s discounts above if you are able to provide proof of status as a home educator group, for example a letter from your local authority.

How far in advance can I book?

We recommend reserving as far in advance as possible to secure your preferred date and time. Visit our website, or email us directly via schools@lightroom.uk to find out our current booking dates.

When are school tickets available?

Education group bookings are available Monday – Friday between 10am – 4pm. All tickets are subject to availability.

What’s the minimum and maximum group size?

Our reduced Education Rate is available for groups of 10+ pupils. There is no maximum group size, however, please note that depending on the show, the capacity and entry slots differ.

What’s the required adult-to-pupil ratio?

There is no set requirement for adult-pupil ratios. Please ensure to bring adequate supervision in consideration of our other guests and to ensure a stress free experience!

We are proud to be a venue that welcomes everyone, and our showspace is designed to be explored and experienced from different perspectives. We encourage a shared sense of respect and consideration among all visitors.

What is the format of the shows?

Most of our shows are displayed in a continuous loop of around 50 minutes. Depending on capacity, it is often the case that once admitted you can stay for as long as you like.

The Moonwalkers is a linear formatted show and tickets allow for single admission. 

Do you run simultaneous shows?

There is only one Lightroom and only one show will be exhibited at any one time. Please check our website for specific dates and times for each of our shows.

What are the time slots?

The first time slot of the day is 10am with entry slots timed at every 30 minute interval. The Moonwalkers shows each hour on the hour. Our venue closing times change throughout the year, so please check our website or ask our team for details.

What’s the running time?

Below are the running times for all of our shows:

David Hockney: Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away) – approximately 50 minutes long

The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks – approximately 52 minutes long

VOGUE: Inventing the Runway – approximately 50 minutes long

Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs – approximately 50 minutes long

What Key Stages is it suitable for?

Lightroom is open to everyone, and we welcome children of all ages. Our immersive shows are likely to offer the most educational benefit for pupils ages 5+.

What subjects and topics does the show link to?

All shows at Lightroom offer cross-curricular benefits, with our state-of-the-art immersive technology creating a truly modern and unique educational environment. Specifically, David Hockney: Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away), and VOGUE: Inventing the Runway are great for exploring Art & Design, Music and Drama. The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks, and Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs are perfect for Maths, Science, History & Geography.

Do you have teaching resources?

Where is Lightroom?

10 minutes walk from King’s Cross station, Lightroom sits at the top of Coal Drops Yard in Lewis Cubitt Square.

Coach

Drop-offs can take place on Handyside Street, N1C 4AA. Please be aware that coach parking is not prohibited around the Kings Cross estate and is strictly monitored.

Coaches can drop-off and park near St Pancras station, we advise checking the TFL coach parking webpage for more information. 

Please anticipate traffic delays if planning to drive to use through Central London.

King’s Cross (Great Northern, London North Eastern Railway, Grand Central, Hull Trains, Lumo).

St. Pancras International (Thameslink, Southeastern, East Midlands Railway, Eurostar)

London Underground

King’s Cross St. Pancras (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern, and Piccadilly lines)

Bus

The 390 bus will bring you closest to the venue stopping at either Copenhagen Street / York Way or Randell’s Road. 

Buses 17, 30, 46, 63, 73, 91, 205, 214, 259 all stop outside Kings Cross and St Pancras Station.

When should we arrive?

We recommend you plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your booked time to ensure a smooth entry to the show.

What happens if I’m running late?

We will do our best to facilitate any late arrivals, meanwhile this cannot be guaranteed and will be at the discretion of Management.

If you are running late, please contact our team via schools@lightroom.uk with as much possible advance notice to provide an anticipated arrival time.

Where should we go when we arrive?

Please enter through our Main Entrance on Lewis Cubitt Square. Our team will welcome you and help direct you to the show and our venue facilities.

What’s the maximum size of each group?

We can accommodate up to 150 tickets every 30 minutes. However, we recommend staggering arrivals for groups larger than 150. If booked far enough in advance, we are able to offer exclusivity but this is dependent on any other public bookings.

Are there toilets?

Yes, we have communal toilets with cubicles in our foyer, including an accessible toilet on every level of the venue.

Is there food and drink available?

We serve a variety of hot and cold drinks, alcoholic beverages and snacks including fresh doughnuts and pastries.

Is there a place where we can eat a packed lunch?

We are a public building with limited spaces and therefore cannot provide nor guarantee exclusive spaces to eat lunch. In good weather, we recommend visiting the nearby Lewis Cubitt Park/Square, or Gasholder Park.

Can I buy merchandise?

Yes. You will enter and exit the show through our shop and you are welcome to make any purchases before or after your visit.

What payment methods do you accept?

We are a cashless venue with all points of sale requiring chip & pin or contactless payment.

Is there security at the venue?

Yes, your bags will need to undergo a search when you arrive at the doors. Bag searches are performed by our onsite security team.

Can I take photographs inside the experience?

Yes we’re happy for you to take photos and short video clips without flash while in the venue for your personal use.  Don’t forget to tag @_lightroomLDN in your content on social media!

However, professional photography or videography is prohibited without written consent from the venue in advance. We don’t allow the use of tripods or flash within the space. Should our staff in the space feel that the photography is disturbing other visitors, we will ask you to stop.

Is there a First Aider on-site?

Yes. We have multiple qualified first aiders in the venue at all times. Please alert any of our team members if you, or anyone in your group requires first aid.

Is the experience suitable for children with SEND?

Lightroom is for everyone. It is important to us that all of our visitors feel welcome and looked after. Lightroom has a Calm Space available for anyone who might like somewhere to decompress, pray, feed or calm a child.

Throughout the year we offer a range of accessible showings at Lightroom, to ensure everyone feels comfortable and looked after during their visit.

We offer two kinds of Accessible Showings: BSL Showings, and Relaxed Showings.
