A Visual Guide to Lightroom

Hello, and welcome to Lightroom!

This Visual Guide has information and pictures to help you familiarise yourself with the venue and show before your visit.

Your Tickets

Shortly after you’ve booked your ticket you should receive an email from us, and your e-tickets will be attached as a document.

You can print these and bring them with you, or choose to keep them on your phone to show at the venue. 

You may want to screenshot the ticket in advance as you may struggle get get data connection in the venue.

This is what your ticket might look like:

If you add your mobile number to your Lightroom account in advance of your booked day, you’ll receive a text with a link to your tickets.

Your journey to Lightroom

The closest tube station is Kings Cross St. Pancras.

This station is served by the Victoria line, Piccadilly line, Northern line, Hammersmith &  City line, Circle line and Metropolitan line. 

There are a few exits from the tube station, the closest to Lightroom is the Regents Canal exit. This is a photo of the Regents Canal exit.

This is what a walking route might look like:

On this route you’ll travel up Kings Boulevard

And arrive at Lewis Cubitt Square. Look out for the Lightroom sign at the top of the square.

Arriving at Lightroom

If you arrive at Lightroom during the day, the entrance will look like this

If you arrive at night the entrance will look like this

When you arrive, there may be a queue to enter. This will be outside of the front door, but our friendly door supervisor will make sure you can enter as quickly as possible.

You will not be asked to show your ticket at the front door, but there may be a security check that involves a bag search. Once you’re in the front door, you’ll be in our foyer. This contains our ticket desk, café bar and seating area.

Inside the foyer

The ticket desk is on the left and will look like this. If you need to purchase any tickets or ask any ticket related questions, our team will be happy to help.

Our bar is on the left, next to the ticket desk. If you’d like to order a drink or refreshment you can do so here. We have a selection of hot and cold drinks, alcoholic beverages and snacks.

Our menu is written on small chalkboards placed around the bar. If you’d like a printed menu, or a menu in large print, let one of the bar team know.

There will be places to sit around tables as well as high stools around an island in the centre of the foyer. There is an accessible toilet on this level.

Towards the back of the foyer there is a buggy park where you can leave your pram/buggy before entering the show space.

There will be hosts in Lightroom uniform, you can ask them questions if you need to.

There will be a small retail stand next to the bar. If you wish to purchase something from here, you can do so at the bar.

When you’re ready to enter the show, there are two options to make your way to the lower foyer. One is a staircase in the middle of the foyer, which looks like this

There is also a lift available in the far left corner of the foyer. If you wish to use the lift, you can speak to one of our access hosts.

Once you enter the lower level, you will be in the area that contains our shop, cloakroom and toilets. The shop is in the middle of the space and looks like this

It may be busy, but don’t worry, there will be space for you to move around.
This space also contains our toilets that are gender neutral. There are two entrances that look like this.

The cloakroom is in the far left side of the lower foyer. You can store your coat and bag while you watch the show if you want to.

You’ll get a small card when you drop your belongings, which you’ll bring back when you want to collect your items. The card will look like this.

In the far left corner of the lower foyer is the entrance to the show space. This is where a host will ask to scan your ticket.

After checking your ticket, you’ll be pointed down these stairs to enter.

If you’d like to take the lift instead, one of our access hosts will be happy to help you. The lift is located at the back of the shop.

If you’re walking to the showspace, it can take a couple of minutes. It may be slightly dark but you can move at your own pace. Your walking route will look like this.

If you’re taking the lift to the show space, you’ll exit just outside the doors. One of our hosts will escort you in. You’ll enter directly into the show space, which will look like this:

If you’ve walked into the show, then you’ll enter into our Lower Viewing Gallery. Your entry will look like this:

Once you get inside, it will be a little dark. We keep the lights down so the audience can see the projections properly. We have a Lower Viewing Gallery, an Upper Viewing gallery and a show space where the projections are. These are all different spaces you can enjoy the show from.

We have seats towards the back of the Lower Viewing Gallery, if you’d like to enjoy the show from there.

If you’d like to make your way into the show space from the Lower Viewing Gallery, you can make your way down the stairs. There is a handrail on either side for support.

If you’re in the show space, you can find a comfortable spot where you’d like to enjoy the show. There are a number of benches around the show space and a cluster of seating in the corner.

Lightroom Run through February

There is a flight of stairs along the side of the seating cluster. These are lit up, so you can find your way easily.

There will be hosts around the show space and viewing galleries, you can ask them questions if you like. They’ll be wearing uniforms like this:

If you’d like a fold out stool to use while you’re in the show space, you can ask one of our hosts who can provide you with one.

If you want, you can move around during your visit to enjoy the show from different angles.If you’d like to visit the upper viewing gallery, you can exit from the door at the end of the lower viewing gallery. If you’re taking the stairs, you’ll need to go up two flights that look like this:

Once you get up to the right level, you’ll enter the Upper Viewing Gallery through double doors. A host will be in this gallery, you can ask them questions if you like.

There are benches towards the back of the upper viewing gallery if you’d like a seat during the show.

If you’d like to move around during the show, you can use the lift or the stairs. Our hosts will be happy to give you directions.

During the show

During the show there will be a range of images projected onto the four walls. At some points, there will be fast moving patterns and colours.

Some points of the show will be darker than others.

There will be music and narration throughout the show. The music may get louder at certain points, and could become more intense. This show contains infrequent periods of sustained loud noise

There are subtitles for those who need them on the front and back wall, above the images.

There are no flashing images in the show (16-25Hz range) but the brightness and movement of images may be challenging for some.

When you’re ready to exit the show, you can head to the door marked ‘Exit’ in the far right corner of the showspace.

If you’re taking the lift to exit, one of our access hosts will assist you here.

If you’re taking the stairs, you’ll need to climb two flights to reach the lower foyer. These stairs will look like this.

Once you reach this area, you’ll be back in the shop. You can collect any items from the cloakroom and use the toilet if you wish. You can browse the range of items in our shop, if you wish to purchase anything our hosts will help you at the till.

To return to the foyer you can either take the lift or go up one more flight of stairs. 

Once you reach the foyer again, you can spend some time in our cafe or make your way to the exit. Thanks for visiting!
