Salary: £42,000 – £47,000 per annum dependent on experience
Terms: This is a permanent position
Reports to: Operations Director
Responsible for: Bar & Events Manager
Hours: 40 hours working week over 5 days Monday – Sunday.
There is no overtime agreement as part of this contract, but TOIL will be given for hours worked beyond this.
Holiday: 20 Days, plus 8 public holidays per annum pro rata
Location: Lightroom, 12 Lewis Cubitt Square

ABOUT LIGHTROOM
Lightroom is a permanent projection-based arts venue which opened in Kings Cross, London in February 2023

Lightroom reimagines immersive experiences through groundbreaking collaborations with leading artistic talents across art, music, film, fashion, science, and more. A joint venture between 59 Studio and London Theatre Company, Lightroom is led by CEO Richard Slaney and backed by investors led by Sir Leonard Blavatnik, who is represented by Danny Cohen, President of Access Entertainment and Mike Sherwood, former co-CEO of Goldman Sachs International. Lightroom’s innovative show space in London, King’s Cross was designed by 59 Studio in collaboration with Haworth Tompkins.

Lightroom’s shows are currently playing in venues across South Korea, China and the USA; in May 2025 Lightroom announced a major new partnership with Culturespaces which will see Lightroom shows presented across Culturespaces’ network of European venues. Lightroom’s critically acclaimed shows include David Hockney: Bigger & Closer, The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks, and Vogue: Inventing the Runway, and Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs created in collaboration with Apple TV+.

ABOUT THIS ROLE
Lightroom is a growing brand and one of the most unique venues in London. From hosting Ed Sheeran’s latest album launch, collaborating with Disney & Star Wars on Andor Season 2 to working with Hugo Boss to host the celebration of their latest collaboration with David Beckham; when we’re not entertaining visitors with our own incredible shows we are hosting unique events for an exciting range of clients.

The Head of Events will lead the strategic growth and delivery of Lightroom’s Events & Hires business. With a strong focus on proactive event sales and commercial development, the post holder will position Lightroom as a leading venue for premium cultural, corporate, and private events.

This role will oversee the work of the Bar & Events Manager, ensuring operational excellence while driving ambitious revenue growth. The Head of Events will be responsible for meeting financial targets and KPIs; developing the sales pipeline and converting enquiries to bookings; building client, agent, and supplier relationships; and ensuring all events are delivered to the highest standards.

The post holder will be commercially minded, with a proven track record in event sales, business development, budgeting and team leadership. They will also have a creative flair – imagining new, high-impact solutions for clients, using our exceptional digital technology and attractive central London spaces. They will work closely with colleagues across Operations, Marketing, Technical and Visitor Experience to deliver seamless, world-class client experiences that maximise income potential and build upon our reputation for excellent client service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Sales & Business Development

  • Lead the strategy for Lightroom’s Events & Hires offer to meet ambitious sales targets and drive revenue growth.
  • Proactively identify and convert new business opportunities across corporate, commercial, private and cultural clients across various different event types – product launches, VIP events, photoshoots, fashion shows, private view receptions, dinners and conferences amongst others.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of leads, taking responsibility for proposals, negotiations and contracts.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, agencies, suppliers and partners.
  • Monitor business data and KPIs alongside market trends, competitor activity and industry developments to inform sales strategy.
  • Develop bespoke event packages and initiatives to enhance profitability and client appeal.
  • Set the marketing plan with the Marketing team and support its implementation.
  • Ensure the Events & Hires business can grow alongside Lightroom’s public performance schedule.

Operational Oversight

  • Line management of the Bar & Events Manager, providing clear direction, coaching and support.
  • Foster a culture of high performance, professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Set departmental KPIs alongside the Operations Director and oversee progress reporting.
  • Oversee the effective coordination of event planning and delivery in partnership with the Bar & Events Manager.
  • Work with the Operations and Technical teams to ensure resources, staffing and logistics are managed efficiently.
  • Support the creation and implementation of policies, processes and documentation to ensure safe, compliant and consistent delivery.
  • Oversee approved suppliers, collaborating with them on delivery and marketing.
  • Management of budgets, forecasts and reporting for Events & Hires; ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded and that pricing and margins optimised.
  • Take responsibility for the department’s data management, leading on CRM optimisation.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as senior point of contact for key clients and high-profile events.
  • Ensure client satisfaction and feedback are captured to drive service improvements.
  • Represent Lightroom at networking, trade and industry events to grow the profile of the venue.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – Essential
Operations & Commercial

  • Proven experience in senior events management with a strong focus on sales and business growth.
  • Demonstrable track record of securing high-value business in a competitive events market.
  • Knowledge of financial planning and experience of managing departmental budgets.
  • Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to balance sales with hands-on delivery, as well as long-term vision with urgent tasks.
  • Commercially driven, with excellent negotiation skills and a results-focused approach.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to unexpected challenges.
  • A collegiate and can-do approach.

Leadership & Relationship Management

  • Experience of managing, motivating and developing teams.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lead by example with a client-focused and commercially astute mindset.
  • Experience of building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Continuous Development / Continuous Improvement

  • Ability to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to own professional development and industry knowledge.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – Desirable

  • Experience working in/with large-scale and high-value events, such as in an agency environment or in-house for a media or luxury client.
  • Ability to apply both data-based analysis and creative solutions to inspire clients, partners and colleges.
  • A background in theatre or production.

  • Year-on-year growth in Events & Hires revenue.
  • Increased volume and value of new business secured.
  • High levels of client satisfaction and positive feedback.
  • Growth in repeat bookings and long-term client partnerships.
