Hours: This is a 0 hour contract, hour are allocated based on availability
Holiday: 20 Days, plus 8 public holidays per annum pro rata

ABOUT LIGHTROOM

Lightroom is a permanent projection-based arts venue which opened in Kings Cross, London in February 2023

Lightroom reimagines immersive experiences through groundbreaking collaborations with leading artistic talents across art, music, film, fashion, science, and more. A joint venture between 59 Studio and London Theatre Company, Lightroom is led by CEO Richard Slaney and backed by investors led by Sir Leonard Blavatnik, who is represented by Danny Cohen, President of Access Entertainment and Mike Sherwood, former co-CEO of Goldman Sachs International. Lightroom’s innovative show space in London, King’s Cross was designed by 59 Studio in collaboration with Haworth Tompkins.  

Lightroom’s shows are currently playing in venues across South Korea, China and the USA; in May 2025 Lightroom announced a major new partnership with Culturespaces which will see Lightroom shows presented across Culturespaces’ network of European venues. Lightroom’s critically acclaimed shows include David Hockney: Bigger & Closer, The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks, and Vogue: Inventing the Runway, and Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs created in collaboration with Apple TV.

ABOUT THIS ROLE 

The Visitor Experience Host plays a key role in delivering Lightroom’s mission to “Illuminate Every Moment” for every Visitor. This front-line position is central to shaping the public’s impression of Lightroom, offering a warm welcome, answering questions, and assisting across multiple touch points in the venue.

Hosts are expected to work fluidly across the ticketing, retail, cloakroom, bar, and show space areas—ensuring visitors feel guided, supported, and valued throughout their experience. You will be part of a multi-skilled team who deliver service excellence, uphold safety procedures, and embody the Lightroom’s values of professionalism, kindness, and operational excellence. From guiding first-time visitors to supporting accessible visits and maintaining high standards, this role requires energy, empathy, and a collaborative mindset.

This is a seasonal position and will end 4th January 2026. Successful applicants will have excellent availability throughout December and the Christmas Holiday, and expect to be scheduled for up to 5 shifts per week.  Lightroom will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing day, and close early on Christmas and New Years Eve.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Day to day responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Delivering warm, informed, and proactive service across all visitor-facing touchpoints.
  • Promoting ancillary offers such as the bar, retail and programme sales and supporting during private hires and events.
  • Ensuring the safe flow of visitors into and out of the showspace and viewing galleries.
  • Carrying out cloakroom operations: tagging, storing, and returning items with care.
  • Selling programmes and retail items, using PDQ systems and accurate transaction handling.
  • Supporting access needs, including mobility, sensory and hearing accommodations, and knowing evacuation protocols.
  • Monitoring crowd capacity and visitor etiquette within the showspace, supporting smooth operations and reporting issues to Supervisors.
  • Acting as first responder for any guest queries or challenges and escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Assisting with health and safety procedures, fire evacuations, and incident reporting.
  • Participating in shift briefings, debriefings, training, and emergency drills.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Experience in a visitor-facing role in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • A warm, proactive, and approachable personality with a passion for service.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work weekends, late evenings, and holidays on a rota basis.
  • Comfortable working across varied roles (retail, bar, showspace) and physical environments.
  • Confidence using digital tools (PDQs, radios) and learning new systems.
  • Commitment to teamwork, punctuality, and maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all visitors.
